Staking Real Money on Goals

Goal staking is one of TRANSFORMR's most powerful accountability tools. The psychological pressure of financial consequences dramatically increases follow-through — research consistently shows that commitment devices with real stakes outperform willpower alone.

How It Works

When enrolling in a challenge (official or custom), Elite and Partners users can optionally stake real money.

  1. On the challenge enrollment screen, toggle Enable Staking.

  2. Enter your stake amount (minimum $5, maximum $500 per challenge).

  3. Select the outcome:

    • Win it back: Complete the challenge = full refund of your stake
    • Double or nothing: Complete = 2× your stake returned; fail = lose it
    • Charity forfeit: Fail = your stake is donated to a charity you choose at enrollment
    • Pool split: Complete with others = failed participants' stakes split among winners
  4. Complete payment via Stripe (card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay).

  5. If you complete the challenge (as verified by TRANSFORMR), your outcome is processed automatically.

Verification for Staked Challenges

Staked challenges use the strictest verification standards. TRANSFORMR cross-references workout timestamps, wearable data, and (for body challenges) photo submissions. Any anomaly triggers a manual review before funds are released.

Refunds and Disputes

If you believe your completion was incorrectly rejected:

  1. Tap the challenge → Dispute Outcome.
  2. Submit evidence (screenshots, wearable exports, photos).
  3. TRANSFORMR's review team evaluates within 72 hours.
  4. If upheld: your funds are released. If denied: your appeal is logged.

Staking Rules

  • You cannot stake on a challenge you've already completed once (to prevent farming)
  • Stakes for the same challenge cannot be layered
  • TRANSFORMR charges a 5% facilitation fee on all staked amounts (deducted from winnings, not from your principal if you lose)
  • Staking is available in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia (regulatory expansion ongoing)

Safety and Responsibility

Staking is designed as an accountability tool, not gambling. All challenge outcomes are based on your own real-world behavior — not chance. If you find staking is causing anxiety rather than motivation, disable it in Settings → Challenges → Staking and use challenges without financial stakes.
